ACCM (Advisory Council for the Church’s Ministry) - A Church of England body which was set up to oversee ministry in the Church of England. ABM ACCM became the Advisory Board of Ministry in November 1990

Clergy - Those people, who have been ordained as deacon, priest (presbyter) or bishop. (In addition in some cases where the context makes it clear it is used for people who have been ordained to the minor-orders).

CRB (Central Readers’ Board) - A largely self-funded central board established in 1922 whose initial task included the responsibility of giving coherence, and effectiveness to the ministry of Readers.

CRC - The Central Readers’ Board was reconstituted and renamed as the Central Readers’ Conference which started to become incorporated into ACCM in 1975 and was then renamed as the Central Readers’ Council in March 1994.

Laos - The ‘whole people of the Church’.

Laity (lay) - People who are not clergy.

Lay Reader - An incorrect title for Church Of England Readers. Sometimes used to differentiate between Reader ministry and lesson readers.

Lector - An alternative word for Reader..

LNSM (Local Non-Stipendary Ministry) NSM limited to a specific local church or cluster of churches.

Minor-orders - A series of orders such as readers, acolytes, exorcists and sub-deacons whose function is to assist the clergy in some aspect of their work.

NSM (Non-stipendary ministry) Clergy who are not retired or employed by the church or working in some prescribed sectors such as theological colleges and hospitals.

PCC - The Parochial Church Council - The elected body responsible for the local decision making of each parish.

Reader can be used to mean either 'the one reading' or the title of a church ministry.
