5.7 The Reader's work with children.
A further feature of the teaching ministry of Readers is schools work which was considered to be a secondary function by over 70% of the respondents. This is probably because schools work takes place when many Readers are at work. There are also additional training issues because it is important that Readers conduct schools' work in accordance with national legislation and local guidelines and syllabuses which distinguish between an act of worship and assisting with the teaching of Religious Education.
